Fitness Test

Fitness Test Information 
The Connecticut Physical Fitness Assessment (Fitness Test) challenges the children to pass a set standard of health in 4 separate physical categories (listed below).  The scores needed to pass come from the Connecticut State Department of Education and are based on each student's age and gender.  The test results let the students and parents know what area (if any) the child may need help in to be healthy and fit.

1)  Push-ups-  Students need to perform a certain number of push-ups to a cadence of 1.5 seconds up and 1.5 seconds down for a total of 3 seconds per one repetition. The maximum push-up score is 40 for both grades. 
 2)  Curl-ups/crunches- Students need to perform a certain number of curl-ups/crunches to a cadence of 1.5 seconds up and 1.5 seconds down for a total of 3 seconds per one repetition. The maximum curl-up score is 60 for both grades.
 3)  PACER run - Students run back and forth across the gym (from line to line), making sure they get to the next line before the CD beeps. Each beep signals that the student should run to the next line. 
 4)  Flexibility- Students have to stretch their leg (hamstring) and lower back muscles in a sit-and-reach pose, reaching for a certain measurement on the testing box
