Welcome to Kindergarten
Where Learning is Fun!
Kindergarten Team
Laurie Alves - Full day, Keri Paradis- Full day
Our Program:
  • We have a balanced literacy program. It helps children learn to recognize letters, sounds, rhymes, sight words and how words work. We use the Daily Five Model to help the children learn to become independent readers, writers and thinkers.
  • Concepts about print are taught through shared reading and writing.
  • Our Math Curriculum is based on the Common Core State Standards. We focus on learning how to count to 100 by the end of Kindergarten, how to write the numbers 1-20, understanding numbers, basic shapes and simple addition and subtraction skills.
  • We use the Writer's Workshop model to teach the children how to write stories about their own lives and experiences.
  • The program is reinforced through daily class work and homework.

All curriculum areas are covered through theme related activities.

We stress the importance of character education. We strive everyday to encourage respect, honesty, responsibility, trustworthiness, caring, and fairness. We spend time each day in a Morning Meeting, where the children learn to greet each other respectfully and in a friendly way, participate in a group acitvity that promotes community building and share a morning message to help us start our day.  We also encourage reading inside and outside of the classroom. Just 15 minutes a day outside of school will help your child become a more efficient and successful reader!
